Lessons in life

In life I try and live by these rules : -

Be more

Give more

Love more

Laugh more

Create more

Live the moment

Play full out

By living with these rules I find I get so much more out of life.

If you really wish to change your life then you need to change.

If you’ve done what you’ve always done then you’ll get what you’ve always got.

Life is a gift and I ask you to treat everyday as such.

If your predominant thoughts are of anger and upset (complaining) then that is what your life will be.

So make your predominant thoughts of love, happiness and joy and before long your life will start to change.

I spent many years in my youth feeling angry at the world and upset about my life, and this was attracting more of the same. The anger was pulling me down and I could hear myself complaining about everything. I would talk people down and by doing this made me feel better - which is totally wrong.
Many years later I had a business partner who did exactly the same. He would always be looking for the flaws in people and would always be thinking about what would go wrong with the project.
He made the problems happen. Subconsciously he would materialize the issues and 9 times out of 10 it would end up in a crisis. We went from problem after problem.

I finally came to the decision that I could either stay and put up with him or choose to walk out leaving it all and start up again. I decided to leave. My partner was like an old dog that couldn’t or wouldn’t want to learn any new tricks.
And I learnt that some people are better left to their own devises. You can waste a lot of time trying to help people but the trick is to find out before you spend too much time on them that they truly want to change.
This was many many years ago, but it was the best decision I could have made. I later learnt that he’d brought in a new partner but again a year down the road the new partner had also left.

Life teaches you so many things and we can never stop learning.

So focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want and I hope you get everything you wish for.

Until next time and to your success

Confidence King lands in Charlotte

Hi there confidence blog viewers

The great thing about travelling is you get to see such great places and meet so many lovely people.

Having taken off from Denver I headed into Charlotte. Nice airport and I had a chance to grab a massage and chill out before the next leg of the journey back to the UK. As you might know I was in Denver on a business trip which I have to say came at a wrong time as we had just moved house. The move had been brought forward by a month due to the financial crisis our buyer was in with his money being tied up in a certain bank. So me heading off abroad wasn’t great timing by any means and I felt awful to be heading skyward when we had so much work to be done in the house.

I could easily have not bothered and stayed at home but it was extremely important to go to Denver for business.

It’s easy to stay at home and not step out of our comfort zone. But how do we learn and stretch ourselves and discover new parts to life if we stay hidden away in our own little lives.

If you take that step and move on forward who knows what you will achieve and whom you will meet and what great friends you might meet. Since my trip I now have more friends in Los Angeles, New York, Melbourne, Brazil and Texas to name but a few.

Here’s a little video of me video blogging at Charlotte Airport. Nice fountain.

Confidence and a great car…

June 1st, 2009

On Tuesday I decided to head off to Red Rocks and see the incredible and natural amphitheatre.

What an incredible space it is. So many bands have played there including one of my favourites U2.

Check out

I also hired a great muscle car…The Ford Mustang. What great fun that was. Lots of grunt and fun on the interstates. Nice to have satellite radio also. Something we don’t have back in the UK in our cars.

Whilst I had the car and surrounded by some great scenery I thought it only right I should record a simple promo video.

Confidence King in the Rockies

May 26th, 2009

Hi people.

Today is Monday and I’m in Denver. What an amazing place. The people are warm and welcoming and I can see the Rockies from my hotel room window.

I’ve spent the last 3 days at Elevate 2008 seminar hosted by the legendary Joel Comm and his team.

I got to make some fantastic new friends from all over the world.

I also had the great pleasure of being asked to appear on Joel’s live show which you can see at

Scroll down and click on the second to left image on the top line. Enjoy!

Earlier today I headed off in a Ford Mustang (a great fun car) and headed out to the Rockies. I have one word and that is WOW! What an incredible place. Such vast beauty that makes you feel very small on the planet. The huge vistas were truly beautiful and made me feel very peaceful.

Check out the video and see what I mean.

Until the next blog, live with confidence and live with success

Jump, jump, jump……………………………..

May 12th, 2009

http://www.theconfidenceking.com

A friend of mine who shall remain nameless at this time, came to me saying he suffered from vertigo.

I couldn’t quite believe this as he’s quite a character and not someone who you would imagine being scared of anything, let alone heights. He works 4 stories up and doesn’t even have the confidence to look out of the window.

He really felt his nerves were getting the better of him and he just couldn’t go up anywhere too high, and because of this felt he was really missing out on certain aspects of life.

I told him (I should have bet him), that I would coach him and within 2 sessions he would be jumping out of a plane (with a parachute) and free fall from 2.5 miles up.

“No way!” came the exclamation. “Yes way!” I said. “You will be free falling for 40 seconds and you’ll love it!”

I used a bit of reverse physcology on him and said that I don’t reckon he could do it. I knew he’d fall for it and he did. He accepted my challenge and I coached him and then very soon after we both climbed into a plane and took off. He had remembered what I had taught him and what to do.

Then doors open, check, lights on, red light…..green light…..ready….1,2,3 jump……………..

What does it take to make decisions - 7 steps to go for it!

May 10th, 2009

http://www.theconfidenceking.com

What does it take to make a decision?

What kind of decision do you want to make?

I’m not talking about whether to have sugar in your coffee; I’m talking about BIG decisions.

Like starting a business or leaving your job to start a new career. Or asking someone to marry you.

Big decisions can be nerve racking can’t they! But with the right knowledge, belief and action YOU CAN DO IT!

As you know I teach my clients the skills on how to overcome their fears and achieve what they want in life. Everyone has different needs and wants but the skills are much the same to overcome what is stopping them.

Fear is the biggest cause of holding people back from getting what they want in life.

Fear of failure. Fear of success. It’s true some people have a fear of becoming too wealthy.

FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real.

Here are my quick top tips on how to make a decision - sounds crazy but you’d be amazed how many people struggle to do this.

1. If you want to make a decision, you need to know what it is you want. What is your goal? Your final outcome?

2. Write down (brainstorm) your ideas on paper. Don’t keep them in your head. The act of writing is transference of energy and the very fact you are writing your thoughts down onto paper means you are solidifying those thoughts into reality by putting pen to paper.

3. Look at your list of ideas and decide which is the best one to start first. Oohh the decision! Before you make this go to step 4.

4. Don’t just sit there, get up and move around the room.

In the past I’ve seen people sitting down and trying to motivate themselves. Motion creates emotion. If you want to make a decision you need to do it with energy. You won’t get energised by sitting down.
Recently I was coaching a business owner and I had him walking around outside in order to get energised.
If you move your body energetically then your mind will follow suit.

5. Now you have the energy and are feeling empowered look at the paper and highlight the item that you can do now to start this decision, and to start the ball rolling.

6. Keep going. Anytime you feel the energy start to slip away as you are progressing with your plan. Go back to step 4 and get moving.

7. Keep the momentum by constantly checking back to your list and as and when you complete something from it, check it off and see if there is anything else you need to add to get you to where you want to go.

My friends keep going and don’t forget…

Live with confidence and live with success

A wonderful life? it could be…

May 8th, 2009

www.theconfidenceking.com

Hi there,

I just wanted to share this with you and see what you might be able to do with this in your life.

In life I try and live by these rules: -

To be more
To give more
To love more
To laugh more
To create more
To live the moment
To play full out

By living with these rules I find I get so much more out of life.

If you really wish to change your life then you need to change.

If you’ve done what you’ve always done then you’ll get what you’ve always got.

Life is a gift and I ask you to treat everyday as such.

If your predominant thought as of anger and upset (complaining)
then that is what your life will be.

So make your predominant thoughts of love, happiness and joy
and before long your life will start to change and things happen for the good.

If I look back at my life and see where things really started to change for the better,
it was when I realised that I could change my life. There was no one else to blame
but myself. I was the driver of my life. I was the master of my destiny not the victim
of my circumstances. I had the choice to be in control.
I look at my life now and I feel totally blessed. I am very lucky to have my 2 amazing
children, my partner and her children, my ever-increasing friends from all over the
world and my businesses that keep expanding at a crazy rate.

So today, right now STOP and think about what you have in your life and start to
play by different rules if you’re not happy. Have the confidence to say to yourself
that you WILL NOT put up with anymore crap in your life. And say ‘I am amazing!’
and that ‘I deserve only the best!’

If I sound like I’ve been drinking funny tea then shoot me, but this is from my
heart and I’m passionate that people should live the life they deserve.

You get the life you have by how you think and act. So live the life you want by
thinking and acting how you want your life to be.

Until next time

Live with confidence and live with success

When you lose a loved one…

May 5th, 2009

http://www.theconfidenceking.com

In November it’s the anniversary of my father’s death.

He was an incredible man. He had such incredible patience and calm about him. He was the father of 5 children and all a handful I’m sure as I am learning with my own.

He said “If you are not bothered about the kudos then anything can be achieved.” He was a caring, loving and giving man and I hope I can live up to his standard of life. I am very proud to have had him as my father and I give praise and love to him and his memory and dedicate this blog entry to him.

Everybody loses a close friend or family member at sometime and we have to move on. The past is the past and there is nothing we can do about it.

Someone once said -

The past is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift - that’s why it’s called the present.

There are sad times of course but take the positive memories and use them in your own life.
If there were lessons to learn, then learn them and become more. Life is a true gift and everything is precious, so live, love and give.

To my father, I love you dearly and thank you for who you were and what you gave to my life.

Forever and one more day.

Live with confidence, live with love and life with success.

What do you do when life changes?

May 2nd, 2009

Life can change from one minute to the next but what happens when things really change.
You might have an accident or an illness or you lose your job. What do you do?
Do you crumble or do you stand and fight?

In my 39 years many things have changed for me, some good, some bad when I was younger and some amazing.
The bad times are when you need to not let it pull you down. Reflect on what you’ve done in your life so far and take strength in that.
We tend to forget about past glories and focus on the bad stuff. STOP and recall your past and have belief that the situation is not forever.
No situation is permanent.
And YOU have a choice. You can be a victim of your circumstances or the driver of your destiny. Bad times will come I can guarantee it, but knowing they will come will give you even greater power than those that simply fall a part when the bad times do hit.

Know that you can get through the difficult times.
Winners in life get back up, losers stay down.
Be the winner you know you are and keep pushing forward.

Believe, focus and smile.
Sounds simple but it’s powerful and will help push you through.

Until next time

Live with confidence and live with success.
